Is Homeschooling Legal in My State?
Yes. As of 1989, the right for parents to teach their child at home became legal in all 50 states.
Homeschooling requires no advanced degrees, certifications, or even a high school diploma. All it requires is strong love and dedication to provide your child with the support and materials he needs for self-discovery and a life-long love of learning.
Don’t let the fact that you were not good at math or hated history hinder your desire to homeschool your children. A wide range of products are available to use….from living books to textbooks to teacher lesson plans to math manipulatives to full curriculums to even correspondence courses with DVD visual instruction! YOU don’t have to “know” the material. The book / text has to know it. One of the most fullfilling benefits to many homeschooling parents is the fun they get to have re-learning (or learning for the first time!) all about our wonderful world!
Note: While it is legal, each state varies somewhat in how they will allow you to homeschool. Some states have many requirements you must adhere to, others leave you alone to do your own thing. Make sure you fully understand the laws in your state.
