Homeschool Mom Interview: Amber from Homeschool Diva
Hello! Welcome to this week’s “Mom’s in the Spotlight” interview. This week, we are interviewing another Amber. This Amber can be found clicking the camera and posting over at her site, www.Homeschool-Diva.com. Her photos will amaze you, and her homeschooling advice is terrific too.
And here she is…

HF: Hi Amber! Welcome to Homeschool Fever! Let’s get started…. How long have you been homeschooling?
Amber: Almost 2 years.
HF: How many kids do you homeschool, and what are their ages?
Amber: 3 children… Boy 7, Girl 5 and Boy 4
HF: What method(s) do you follow?
Amber: I use the Charlotte Mason method.
HF: What curriculum has worked best for your children and why?
Amber: I wanted a classical approach that wasn’t overwhelming. Charlotte Mason and Ambleside Online fit the bill for our family to a T.
HF: How has your view of homeschooling changed since you began?
Amber: I am not nearly as stressed out about it as I used to be. If you can read a recipe and bake a cake you can homeschool your children and do it well.
HF: Where is your favorite place to get homeschooling supplies (curriculum, worksheets, notebooks, etc.)?
Amber: Ambleside Online is a free homeschool curriculum that has tons of resources from other Moms all over who homeschool just like me.
HF: Who is your homeschool rolemodel?
Amber: I have several friends who have homeschooled their kids all the way up until highschool. They are always a phone call away when I feel in over my head.
HF: Which homeschool websites do you visit often?
Amber: Now I am being redundant, but you guessed it, Ambleside Online is a place I go to almost everyday. It keeps me in the game, and encourages me in the tough spots. It is a true gift.
HF: What is your favorite aspect of homeschooling?
Amber: The flexibility and the ability to choose how you take your children through a given subject matter based on what you know is best for them.
HF: What are some field trips you have taken over the years?
Amber: The Candy store to make some hand made chocolate, the post office, the grocery store, the fire station, the police station.
HF: What is your favorite homeschool memory so far?
Amber: At first I was scared to teach our kids to read. I just didn’t think I could do it. Now, seeing them just take off with it, and knowing that I taught them that, well, it still makes me giggle with joy.
HF: Well, that’s about it for today. For a wrap up, how about summarizing for our readers what your blog is about?
Amber: Homeschool-diva.com. It is a diary of my life with everything from homeschooling tips to ideas on photography. Just a little bit of day to day from a Mom who is working this homeschooling thing out a bit at a time.
